about the band leader
Scott Simpkins is a formidable young musician with over 15 years experience in the music industry.
At a young age he toured Europe performing at the most renowned jazz festivals in the world including the North Sea and Montreux.
A gifted woodwind player, Scott graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2005 with a B.Mus (Jazz Saxophone). Since then he has gone from strength to strength, working with some of the best musicians in Australia across all genres: Jazz, Swing, Broadway Musicals, Pop, Rock ’n’ Roll, Blues, Country, Rockabilly, Classical and Big Band.
He is in high demand as a full-time musician. In the same week you’ll find him performing in Sydney or touring Australia with Jazz Fever, or one of countless other bands, doing a recording session, composing original music or arranging a cover, teaching sax, clarinet and flute at some of Sydney top schools. He has performed at The Basement, The Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Entertainment Centre, and The Metro to name a few.
about the band
Jazz Fever is a close-knit group of best mates who formed a band almost 10 years ago while studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. All the musicians in Jazz Fever are full-time musicians who live and breathe music, not a bunch of “weekend warriors” like you might find in some other bands out there. They play together every week, and have gelled into a super slick unit by doing so.
Collectively they have performed in the most exclusive and high profile jazz and music venues in Sydney and Australia, alongside the best musicians and bands in the country, playing music at the highest standard.
Instruments include:
- Saxophone
- Female Vocals
- Piano
- Bass
- Drums
- Guitar
- Trumpet
- Trombone
- Male Vocals
- Clarinet
The band can be customized to just about any size and budget, from duo to big band, capable of rocking the house or setting an intimate mood. They are firmly rooted in the jazz tradition yet able to traverse any number of music genres.
